I think an Otis Grain Elevator in this layout would be really excellent.
ReplyDeleteDoes Otis service grain elevators too?
ReplyDeleteOnly if the grain elevator has a real passenger or freight elevator inside.
ReplyDeleteCan't say that it does. No Otis Elevator company then unless we build an office in Blue Island (outside of Chicago). What kind of equipment might be delivered by rail? Spools of cable, machinery?
ReplyDeleteThe elevator companies get all their stuff by truck to the jobsites, but some suppliers might get some of their equipment by rail. In addition to spools of cable (we call it wire rope) and various sizes of machines (some over 10 feet tall), elevator guide rails would be a good rail commodity. They're T-shaped and 16 feet long. The largest standard size rail weighs 32 pounds per foot.
ReplyDeleteDavid, you'll find that that Otis Elevator has just signed a contract with the CRI&P for a location in Blue Island, IL outside of Chicago.
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome news! Otis has a large presence in Chicago. I may be able to provide some assistance with signage and such for the new location. I'll send you a file with the Otis globe logo you can scale down and print out if you need it.
ReplyDeleteLook at this site about 2/3rds down the page on the right: N scale is what I model. It will look good on the roof of the Otis building.
