With it being the last weekend before the op session, you would think I would be busy working on the layout. Nope, that didn't happen. I spent time with my family. It's nearly at the point where I need to work on final preparations for the op session (cleaning track, cleaning up, cleaning loco wheels, etc). This morning, I did vacuum the room. The room is already picked up from my cleaning session last weekend, so I'm slightly ahead of the game currently.
Late on Sunday evening, I worked on another pre-session project. I completed the second Train Cat tank car loading platform. There is one more I need to construct for PQ, but is at a separate location from these. I'm not the best at constructing these brass kits, but I do believe it looks good. I need to paint them black now.
The loading platforms look great, Steven, and will look even better once they're painted.
ReplyDeleteI also really like the way this industrial area is coming along. Is that just painted plaster that you've used for the road surfaces? I can't get into my train room at present, but I am tempted to try out that method on some scrap plywood.

Thanks Ron! I used just plain wall plaster. It forms hairline cracks naturally. I then took a Black Fine Point Sharpie and just followed the natural cracks and then weathered with Doc O'Briens weathering powders (grimy black followed by white).
DeleteI find I do my best roads if I use forms on the side. Lately, I have been using small square or rectangular strips of styrene glued down lightly to the layout. I then spread in plaster with a putty knife. It provides for a good clean edge.
